Prague, 21 January 2025 – In 2024 revenues from toll collection reached 17.161 billion crowns. They increased by 15% year-on-year, mainly due to the introduction of the new CO2 emission charge, which will account for approximately 15% of the total tolls paid from March 2024. A higher amount of toll collection with the same intensity of freight transport is also signalled by the trend in the number of toll transactions: CzechToll processed a total of 1.16 billion transactions in 2024, only 3% more year-on-year.

An efficient setting of the toll collection system helps finance investments in transport infrastructure in the Czech Republic. The satellite-based toll system helps quickly and cost-effectively charge for newly commissioned sections of roads and motorways, and has also enabled the charging of more than 1,000 kilometres of 1st category roads. Since the launch of the satellite toll system in December 2019, annual toll revenues have increased by 57% (in 2019 the government collected CZK 11.5 billion in tolls). Toll revenues are one of the important revenues of the State Transport Infrastructure Fund, which uses them to finance the construction and operation of transport infrastructure.

In December 2024 itself, carriers paid 1.165 billion Czech crowns in tolls, which represented a year-on-year increase of 12 percent. CzechToll's system processed 77 million toll transactions in December, which represents a growth of 0.7%.

At the end of 2024 as many as 882 thousand vehicles weighing over 3.5 tons were registered in the electronic toll system, of which over 700 thousand vehicles had foreign license plate numbers. For the registered vehicles, CzechToll issued 659 thousand on-board units to carriers.
